The Naso Tang or Lipstick Tang (Naso lituratus) is one of the most dramatic and charismatic of all surgeonfish — distinguished by its grey-brown body, vivid yellow saddle marking on the dorsal fin, bright orange lips and facial markings, and in mature males, elongated tail streamers. Native to the West Indian Ocean and collected without cyanide. An active, wide-ranging swimmer that requires a spacious tank of 700L or more. Largely herbivorous — ensure a constant supply of dried algae (nori), algae-based pellets, and spirulina supplemented with occasional frozen meaty foods. Reef safe with corals and invertebrates. Keep singly unless the system is large; generally peaceful with dissimilar species but may be aggressive to other large Naso tangs.
