The Copperband Butterfly (Chelmon rostratus) is an elegant, long-snouted fish from the Indo-Pacific, instantly recognisable by its alternating white and vivid orange vertical bands and false eyespot near the tail. In addition to being a striking display fish, it is frequently employed as a biological control for Aiptasia glass anemones and Majano anemones, using its slender snout to pick them from rockwork. Rated intermediate to expert — the Copperband's main challenge is transitioning to captive foods; wild specimens can be initially reluctant to accept frozen foods and require patient target feeding with mysis, enriched copepods, and live foods where necessary. Tank of 350L or more with plenty of rockwork recommended. Generally reef safe with corals; may occasionally pick at feather dusters or tubeworms.
