Pellet Types
Hikari offers a variety of pellet types, each carefully designed to suit the feeding habits and nutritional needs of different fish species. From floating and sinking pellets to soft, sponge-like and micro-sized options, there’s a suitable format for almost every aquarium.
Round Pellet
Most general-purpose, round-shaped expanded pellets for Koi, Goldfish and Cichlids, made using a high-temperature extrusion process that creates firm yet soft pellets with excellent stability during feeding.
Sponge Type Diets

Feeding your aquatic and reptile pets
Your aquatic and reptile pets spend their entire life in an artificial environment you created for them. What you feed them directly affects that environment, and therefore their health. Use these guidelines to find the best Hikari diet for your pet, and to use it effectively.
Never overfeed
Feeding less is always better than feeding too much. Each Hikari diet is balanced to provide the best utilisation of the nutrients included — mixing diets with other foods will dilute the benefits.

Control the amount you feed
Feed so there is no leftover food after the feeding period. If you find leftovers, remove them immediately to avoid water quality problems.

Go easy in new aquariums
Reduce the feeding amount until your filtration system has properly cycled and developed adequate bacteria levels.

Feed little and often
More frequent, smaller feedings improve your chances of success and support more rapid growth.

Watch for changes
If something unusual happens in your aquarium — a sudden temperature change, unstable water quality or illness — stop feeding completely, or reduce the amount, until the condition is corrected.

Persist with new foods
Tropical fish may resist a new type of food when changing their diet. Continued use will ensure acceptance.
